In 2003, the Protected Designation of Origin Ribera del Júcar · Cuenca was established. It was promoted by a group of wineries and cooperatives to collaborate in production and marketing.

The DOP Ribera del Júcar · Cuenca covers an area of 6,700 hectares of vineyards, located in the municipalities of Casas de Benítez, Casas de Fernando Alonso, Casas de Guijarro, Casas de Haro, El Picazo, Pozoamargo, and Sisante.

The wines of Ribera del Júcar are renowned for their intense aroma and balanced body, which are the direct result of a particular microclimate and viticulture techniques adapted to soil conditions. The predominant grape varieties in the area are Bobal, Tempranillo, known locally as Cencibel, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing for a wide range of wines from deep and robust reds to fresh and fruity rosés.

The origin of our wines

There are indications that vine cultivation has been present in our towns since the 17th century. Generation after generation, the land has been worked, and knowledge has been passed down from parents to children to reach the present day.

Where are we located?

We are located south of Cuenca. Our territory encompasses 6,700 hectares of vineyards and consists of nine wineries spread across the municipalities of Casas de Benítez, Casas de Fernando Alonso, Casas de Guijarro, Casas de Haro, El Picazo, Pozoamargo, and Sisante.

Our towns live off agriculture and viticulture, which is why this DOP was created in 2003. We have been working for twenty years to maintain the high quality of our wines, promoting them, and making them known.
